How card facts stay useful.
Benefit terms move. Enrollment rules differ. Some details depend on the account in front of you. This is how kardfolio sources a card’s facts, dates them, and shows what it does not know.
What kardfolio maintains.
The catalog keeps, for each card, its annual fee and foreign transaction fee, its credits with their amount, how often they are granted, when they reset and whether they need enrolling, its awards, its earning rates, and its protections and other benefits.
A card page describes the terms a new cardholder has today. It is a reference for current published terms, not a statement about your account. Your own eligibility, enrollment and card dates can change the result, and the issuer’s current terms control.
A card the catalog does not publish has no page. kardfolio may also leave a credit out by its own decision; that is not a claim that the issuer ended it.
Published terms lead.
Each fact is recorded with the page it was read from and who publishes that page: the issuer, the card network, a partner, or a secondary source such as press.
- Issuer, network and partner pages. The terms of a tracked credit and the annual fee cite only these.
- Secondary sources. They may support a fact that is shown for information. They never set a tracked credit’s terms or the annual fee.
A fact that cites a source carries a quote from it. The catalog’s citation check requires the quote to appear in the saved copy of that page, compares the fact’s amounts, rates and counts with the quote, and fails a fact that the passage contradicts.
Each card page lists the sites its facts were read from.
A date is not proof by itself.
“Last checked” on a card page is the most recent day one of its sources was checked against the live page. The other sources of that card can have an earlier day.
- A source’s day moves forward only when the page was fetched and its text had not changed.
- A page that changed keeps its earlier day until the facts that cite it are checked against the new text.
- A page that could not be reached keeps its earlier day.
The day a card’s data was installed, or the day this site was updated, is never shown as a check.
Unknown stays unknown.
When a fact is not known, the catalog records it as unknown with the reason: no source states it, it varies by account, the sources disagree, or a source could not be reached. It is never filled with a guess.
- An annual fee that is not known reads “Not published” or “Varies”, never $0.
- A credit whose enrollment is not stated says so. That is different from “no enrollment needed”.
- The yearly total of a card’s credits counts only the credits with a known yearly dollar amount. It is the most they are worth, not savings.
- “Closed to new applicants” appears only when a cited source says so. A card without it says nothing either way.
Review follows a clock.
A credit is due for review 180 days after its source was last checked. From that day a credit the app calculates is tracked by hand, until its source is checked again. Periods that ended before that day keep their amounts.
Terms that change on a known day are kept as dated versions. A card page shows the day a credit’s current terms end when the catalog knows it, and an earlier annual fee with the cards it applies to.
A correction replaces the fact, in periods already shown too, through the same checks as any other fact. The usage you have logged is not changed by it.
